Music Honors

The student who is accepted into an honor band or choir benefits in several ways. First, there are the improved musicianship skills that are the result of preparing the audition music. (The demands of the audition materials are much greater than those of the daily rehearsal and practice routine.) Second, each student is a part of a larger ensemble which is comprised of some of the finest young musicians to be found anywhere in the world. This allows them to perform music that is of a higher difficulty level than that which is usually performed in their home schools. Finally, the students in these ensembles receive direction from conductors who are not only excellent musicians, but also inspiring leaders. Students are able to take their experiences in these elite ensembles back to their own school music programs. For all of the hard work - audition preparation, rehearsal, the performance - the result is a week of musical experiences that will last a lifetime!

Music Festival

What is the “SAISA Band & Choir Festival”?

SAISA” is the South Asia Inter-School Association. The music festival occurs during the second half of the school year for high school music students. Students will prepare an audition for the latter part of September and will be selected as instrumentation and delegate numbers permit. (Each school is allowed 25 delegates.) Students attending this festival participate in the Festival Band and/or Festival Choir. There is a solo and ensemble contest, as well as an honors recital. Students also have the option of audtioning for the jazz band or jazz choir.
