Board of Trustees
The American International School Dhaka is governed by a Board of Trustees, which oversees the school’s adherence to its mission and values; appoints, supports, evaluates, and cultivates a strong relationship with the Head of School; oversees financial and institutional affairs; and conducts periodic strategic planning for the growth and evolution of the School. The Board works in partnership with the Head of School and delegates the responsibility for the day-to-day administration, programming, and operations of the School to the Head.
The President, Vice-President, Treasurer, and Secretary form the Executive Committee of the Board. Standing committees include the Governance and Facilities & Finance Committees, along with ad-hoc committees formed to meet the needs of the board from time to time.
The Board of Trustees endeavors to ensure that the composition of the Board is representative of the community, contributes diverse perspectives, and delivers the expertise and resources needed for the Board to carry out its work and to support the School to fulfill its promise and achieve its mission.
AISD’s Board of Trustees is composed of 9 voting members and one non-voting U.S. Ambassador's Representative. Of the Board's nine voting members, five are United States Embassy direct hires. The remaining four board memberships are open to any nationality. As a self-perpetuating board, all nine School Board members are appointed by the majority of the school board.
