Secondary School: Grades 6 - 12

Grades 6 - 8

The Middle School is committed to helping all students achieve their academic and personal potential.

The Middle School realizes this commitment by offering a broad and balanced curriculum with a strong academic foundation and a varied exploratory program and extra-curricular program. A strong Advisory program, a Student Support Services program and Service Learning program enhances our ability to support and nurture the intellectual, social and emotional development of adolescent children.

As stated in the AISD vision statement, we want our students to leave our Middle School equipped with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to be stewards of a just and sustainable world.

The core courses are grade level appropriate and parallel offerings of similar American international schools. Teachers in each of these core curricular areas share common planning time during the week and use this time to collaborate in the areas of curriculum and instruction. They also use this time to identify and establish cross-curricular links between subject areas.

Exploratory courses are required 9-week courses designed to provide students with a broad and balanced program of study. Electives are optional one semester or one-year courses that provide students with an opportunity to choose subjects for which they possess an interest. The partnership between school and family is essential to the success of a Middle School student. We look forward to working in partnership to ensure that your child feels included, challenged and successful in our Middle School!

Each year AISD graduates are accepted at selective colleges and universities around the world.

The commitment of our faculty can be seen in their support of an extra-curricular program that aims to provide opportunities for students beyond the classroom: athletics where our student participants enjoy our wonderful facilities as well as the possibility of high level competition with other international schools in the South Asia Inter School Association Conference; in the Performing Arts, where AISD truly excels; in activities such as Model United Nations and SAISA Math; in our many charity and service ventures including Habitat for Humanities, where our students’ contribution to the community and the environment has been extraordinary.

All of us here at the high school believe we offer the benefits of an exceptional learning environment where every student counts.
