Partnerships with Purpose
AISD’s commitment to excellence extends beyond our classrooms. Through a range of outreach programs, we strive to uplift, empower, and support members of our wider community - whether it’s the children of our support staff, families in need of temporary financial help, or underserved children in Dhaka.
These initiatives are driven by compassion, equity, and a shared belief in the power of education to transform lives. By giving back, we strengthen our school’s ecosystem and build bridges with the world around us.

ABC Charity School
WELCOME TO ABC CHARITY SCHOOL DHAKA
Eglal’s ABC Charity School was born from the generosity of a single teacher. When Eglal Rousseau, a former AISD educator, began offering lunch to a child in need, she didn’t know she was planting the seeds for a transformative school. Her kindness quickly expanded—feeding 100 children daily and covering their emergency medical needs. When Eglal left Dhaka, her mission continued. In 2001, Dr. David Fussell, then Elementary Principal at AISD, with the help of AISD colleagues and the U.S. Embassy, formally established ABC School to carry forward her vision of compassion and opportunity through education.

Mission & VisionOur Mission
To provide holistic care and education for underprivileged children in Bangladesh through programs in academics, healthcare, and community support that help break the cycle of poverty.
Our Vision
We see education as a pathway out of poverty—a way to empower underprivileged children to dream, grow, and contribute meaningfully to society.

Who are the ABC Kids?
Meet Our Students
- The children at ABC School come from some of the most marginalized communities in Dhaka.
-
Many are the children of day laborers.
-
25% are raised by single mothers.
-
5% come from ethnic minority groups.
Our team carefully reviews each application through interviews with the child and their family, ensuring that education reaches those who need it most.
Student Spotlight:
Ayesha’s Journey
Ayesha Rahman, a bright fifth-grader with a love for math and storytelling, is one of ABC School’s shining stars. Her parents—a rickshaw puller and a garment worker—work tirelessly to support her. ABC School provides her with free education, meals, and books, helping her dream of becoming a teacher one day.

“I want to be a teacher one day,” Ayesha says with a hopeful smile.

Support Staff Education Fund
Support Staff Children Education Fund
Investing in the Future of Our AISD Community
Why This Fund Matters
At AISD, our support staff—plumbers, gardeners, bearers, kitchen staff, carpenters, drivers, and others—are the backbone of our campus. Teachers, administrators, and parents work to provide an exceptional education for our students, and our support staff create and maintain the environment that makes this possible.
The Support Staff Children Education Fund is a reflection of our commitment to equity and excellence. It provides children of our support staff the opportunity to attend quality Bangladeshi schools—opportunities many would not be able to afford otherwise.
From Loans to Gifts
This fund, already well-established, is now shifting from a loan-based model to one powered by community generosity. Your contributions help eliminate financial barriers for these families, reduce stress, and empower children to pursue education at every level—from pre-primary to university or vocational training.
Together, we strengthen the very foundation of our AISD community.
How You Can Help
