Parent and Student Expectations for Virtual School
Virtual Learning Protocol
In the case of an emergency school closure, Virtual School assignments will be posted regularly on Google Sites (for elementary school) and Google Classrooms (for middle and high school) by classroom teachers. Students participate in all courses asynchronously and continue the learning process as they would during a regular, on-campus school day. School timings, class schedules, and clear expectations for students and parents will be posted on Sites or Classrooms. We encourage parents of younger students to facilitate their child’s Virtual School work.
What to Expect
Teachers set clear expectations for weekly check-ins and discuss these with their students ahead of time. Check-in may be in various forms, including video conferencing, email, chat, completion of classroom activities, etc. This information is posted on Class Sites (ES) or Google Classrooms (MS/HS). Assignments are posted by midnight Dhaka time and should be received for due dates in Dhaka time.
- Recommendations for in-country short-term closures: Same day check-in
- Recommendations for evacuated, out-of-country closures: 24-hour allowance for check-in.
All daily classroom assignments need to be completed according to the course schedule, posted clearly on Google Classroom.
Students should understand that Virtual School responsibilities have the same value as on-campus school responsibilities.
Virtual days are school days; therefore, incomplete work or work not completed with effort or quality will be graded accordingly.
All Virtual school work needs to be submitted according to the teacher’s expectations outlined on their Class Site or Google Classroom.
Proactively communicate with your teachers and principal as questions and needs arise.
Teachers will establish “Virtual School Hours” and post this information on Google Sites (ES) or Classrooms (MS/HS). Be aware of and use the teachers’ Virtual School office hours. (Children under age 13 will only have a Meet video conference or chat in small groups with another adult present. The conference may be recorded and stored in a school owned account.)
