Welcome to Dhaka

A nation of more than 160 million people, Bangladesh is nestled between India and Myanmar and a short flight to most South Asian countries. The capital city of Bangladesh, Dhaka, is a tapestry of high-rise apartments and bustling marketplaces peppered with parks and gardens. The capital’s diverse modes of transport, ranging from luxury cars to rickshaws weave throughout the city from dusk til dawn, making living in Dhaka unique.

The country, which is predominantly Muslims is also home to people from 15 different ethnic minority groups. Bangladesh is quickly picking up pace towards middle-income status, resulting in improved infrastructure, better healthcare services and a safer environment for all.

Bengalis’ staple foods are rice, dhal and curry. Dhaka's restaurants and supermarkets are growing exponentially offering a large variety of Western and Asian foods. From burgers to sushi – and everything in between, there is something for everyone.

AISD, which has been in existence for almost 60 years is located in the heart of the international community, Baridhara. The school, which has just undergone a multi-million dollar renovation, has become the hub of Dhaka’s international life, not only for the students we serve, but for parents and other prominent members of the international and select Bengali community who enjoy our exceptional facilities. State-of-the-art facilities with a lively and welcoming community, AISD attracts teachers from around the world who make Dhaka their home. Teachers typically remain in post for an average of 4 years.

If you are ready to combine your love of teaching with your love for adventure, diversity and life-long learning, then AISD is the place for you.
